Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Winfein Safaris (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website, send a trip inquiry, subscribe to updates, or otherwise contact us. It is written for travellers planning Uganda safaris with us.

1. Who we are

Winfein Safaris is a safari and travel experience provider based in Uganda.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Trip inquiries: name, email, phone, travel dates, group size, interests, and any details you include in your message (including event, service, or portfolio references).
  • Newsletter: email address and optional name when you subscribe (double opt-in confirmation required).
  • Blog engagement: name and comment text if you leave a public comment; like actions tied to a browser visitor key.
  • Direct contact: anything you send us by email, phone, or messaging apps.

Information collected automatically

  • Essential technical data: security and session cookies needed for the site to work (for example CSRF protection and admin login sessions).
  • Analytics (only if you Accept all): page path, referrer, visitor id, IP address, approximate location (country/city best effort), truncated browser user-agent, and timestamp. Stored on our own servers — not Google Analytics or ad pixels.

3. How we use your information

  • Respond to safari and itinerary inquiries and prepare quotes or trip proposals
  • Communicate about bookings, logistics, permits, and travel updates
  • Send newsletter updates you confirmed you want to receive
  • Operate, secure, and improve the website and content funnel
  • Understand which pages visitors use (with analytics consent)
  • Meet legal, accounting, or safety obligations where required

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Essential cookies keep the site secure and remember your cookie choice (wf_consent).

Analytics cookies (wf_vid and related page-view recording) run only after you choose Accept all. Choose Essential only to browse without analytics tracking. You can change this anytime via Cookie settings in the footer.

5. Sharing your information

We may share information only when needed to deliver your trip or run the business, for example:

  • Trusted suppliers such as lodges, parks authorities, transporters, or guides (trip details required to operate your safari)
  • Hosting, email, and cloud storage providers who process data on our instructions
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect safety and rights

We ask partners to use your information only for the purpose we shared it.

6. International travellers

If you contact us from outside Uganda, your information may be processed in Uganda and in countries where our hosting or email providers operate. By using the site or sending an inquiry, you understand that transfer may be necessary to serve you.

7. How long we keep information

  • Inquiries: kept while we handle your request and for a reasonable period afterward for follow-up and records
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or we remove inactive addresses
  • Analytics cookies / visitor id: up to about one year in your browser, or until you clear cookies / switch to Essential only
  • Page-view logs: kept for operational analytics and may be deleted or anonymised when no longer needed

8. Your choices

  • Update cookie preferences via Cookie settings
  • Unsubscribe from newsletters using the link in each marketing email
  • Ask us to correct or delete inquiry or newsletter data where appropriate by emailing [email protected]

Public blog comments you post may remain visible until moderated or removed. Admin and operational records may be retained where we have a legitimate need (for example safety, disputes, or legal compliance).

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information (including secure hosting and restricted admin access). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please avoid sending payment card numbers over unsecured email when possible.

10. Children

Our website and services are aimed at adults arranging travel. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for marketing. Trip bookings involving minors should be arranged by a parent or guardian.

11. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date below will change when we do. Continued use of the site after updates means you accept the revised policy.
